Our Founding

Founded on December 21, 1917, Doric Lodge No. 19, F. & A.M., P.H.A. has a proud history as part of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of the District of Columbia. Originally chartered by the Grand Lodge of the State of Pennsylvania, Doric Lodge No. 19 was formally established under Most Worshipful Grand Master William Henry Jackson, with Oscar L. Hayes as Worshipful Master, Levi M. Collins as Senior Warden, and James H. Wells as Junior Warden.

Legacy of Leadership

Over the decades, Doric Lodge No. 19 has been home to numerous distinguished leaders, including PM Rev. Melvin Jefferson Key, who served as MWGM (1947–49). His vision led to the reclamation of the historic Masonic Temple during the 1948 Centennial Grand Lodge Session.

Continuing this tradition of excellence, notable members such as Rev. Bro. Ronald Boykin and PM John T. Doles, Sr. have served in Grand-level leadership roles. The Lodge’s contributions include founding scholarship programs, organizing prostate cancer walks, and hosting community dinners for seniors.

Ongoing Commitment

Doric Lodge No. 19 continues to thrive through active service, steadfast brotherhood, and a commitment to bettering the community. Meetings are held on the third Friday of each month at 7:30 PM.
